Pool Safety Tips & Tricks for a Safe + Fun Swim Season

Nothing beats cooling off by the pool, but safety always comes first. Whether you’re a seasoned swimmer or just in it for the sun, keep these tips in mind for a splash-safe summer at your apartment community pool:

1. Never Swim Alone

Even confident swimmers should have a buddy. Accidents can happen quickly, so always pair up or keep an eye out for others.

Plus, this is a great way to connect with neighbors and build lasting relationships!  Consider inviting your neighbor down the hall to aqua jog with you every Tuesday morning or form a coffee + lounge + books club with the fun couple you met at the last community event.

2. No Running on the Pool Deck

It may be tempting to race to the water, but slippery surfaces + speed = risk. Walk carefully to avoid slips and falls. That last thing anyone wants is to start the summer with a concussion or a broken nose!

Encourage any children or guests that you bring to the pool to adhere to this important safety guideline too.

3. Keep the Area Clean

Remove glass, sharp objects, and personal items from the pool deck to prevent injuries and keep the space welcoming for everyone.

Properly dispose of any food, containers, wrappers, etc. to keep the space clean for others, free of animals/insects, and create a fun, peaceful environment.

4. Watch the Little Ones

Children should always be supervised closely by an adult. Floaties help—but they’re no substitute for active supervision.

Unfortunately, drowning is a leading cause of death for children; therefore, the importance of watching your children or those you are in charge of, cannot be stressed enough.  Teach your children water safety and heavily supervise them around any/all bodies of water.

5. Secure the Gate

Help keep the pool safe after hours by making sure the gate is closed and latched behind you. This helps ensure that any animals, children, or individuals who are not supposed to be in the pool area remain outside of this space.

6. Stay Hydrated + Use Sunscreen

The Texas heat is no joke during the summer. The sun reflects off the water, intensifying UV exposure. Lather up with SPF and drink plenty of water—even if you’re in the pool!

The best part of living in the same community as such a fantastic pool? If you need a break from the sun or to rehydrate, you're just steps away from home! Sometimes, taking a 15 - 30-minute pause to refresh inside can be the key for a long, pool-filled day!

7. Keep Electronics Away from Water

Bluetooth speakers are fun, but keep electronics and extension cords far from the pool to prevent electrical hazards.

8. Know the Rules

Each pool has its own posted rules for a reason. Read them, follow them, and encourage your guests to do the same. Ask the leasing team if you have any questions about the rules, they're always happy to help.

9. Report Any Issues

See something broken, unsafe, or out of place? Let the leasing office or maintenance team know ASAP.
